Group Activities in Denver for Every Interest & Type of Event
As a local tour company, we recognize that group activities in Denver require special considerations. Ages, abilities, the number of guests, and associations all need to be taken into account. After all, what we’d recommend to a corporate team will greatly differ from a bachelor party!
To help you navigate our suggestions, we’ve organized this guide by type of event. Whether you’re planning a wedding, family reunion, or girls’ weekend getaway, we have ideas sure to entertain your group.
We also created a section dedicated to varying interests, including beer-centric activities (like our LoDo Craft Beer Tour), concert halls for music enthusiasts, mountain parks for those looking to get outdoors — and so much more!
Group Activities in Denver for Various Events
Corporate Outings
Given the wide range of options, entertaining clients and hosting team-building activities is easy in the Mile High. Happy hour is always a safe choice — but many would agree that it’s not particularly memorable. Plus, being locked to a table can often make it tricky to mix and mingle.
Consider one of our corporate tours instead, which take guests to some of the best craft breweries in the downtown LoDo neighborhood or RiNo Arts District. Each guided experience includes 10+ tastings at four noteworthy stops, plus insights into the city’s history and beer scene. These tours grant plenty of opportunities to connect with co-workers, all in a fun and engaging environment.
Conference Attendees
Many Denver conference venues are centrally located, allowing attendees to easily explore the city in their downtime. Some of our top recommendations for corporate groups include cheering on the Rockies at Coors Field, catching a show at Comedy Works, and touring Stranahan’s whiskey distillery.
But with travel, trade shows, and keynote speakers, conferences can often be taxing. If venturing into the city sounds like one more thing you don’t want to plan, let us take the task off your to-do list. Our private brewery tours cater to groups of five to 200 guests and can be easily customized to include appetizers, full meals, and engaging activities like a blind beer-tasting workshop.
As part of our conference services, we can also bring the event to you! Book our on-site guided beer or whiskey tasting experience to sample some of the best locally-made libations.
Bachelor Parties
Good news, best men: you’ll have no trouble finding bachelor party ideas in Denver. Treat the groom and his closest companions to a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, a round at City Park Golf Course, or a night at 1up Arcade Bar.
To minimize planning, opt for a guided experience. Some of our top recommendations include a cannabis tour aboard a decked-out party bus and our RiNo Beer and Graffiti Tour, which explores one of the city’s coolest neighborhoods.
Bachelorette Parties
Brides and their besties will also be delighted to learn that Denver bachelorette party ideas are easy to come by — regardless of your group’s interests.
Start your itinerary with guided outdoor yoga in Wash Park or surrounded by greenery at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Grab lunch at one of the city’s best restaurants, followed by flavorful sips on our LoDo Craft Beer Tour. End the evening by belting out your go-to karaoke tunes at Punch Bowl Social, or dancing the night away at Temple nightclub.
Guys/Girls Weekends
Reuniting with your college pals, former co-workers, or any group of friends you haven’t seen in far too long? Make the get-together memorable with attractions in and near the city.
Some of our favorite splurge-worthy experiences include ski resort getaways, whitewater rafting excursions, and driving luxury sports cars through the mountains with Oxotic. But you don’t have to have deep pockets to have a good time.
Other fun group activities in Denver include sipping wine in the sunshine at Balistreri Vineyards, snapping photos at the Denver Selfie Museum, and exploring the free-to-enter Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.
Family Reunions
Finding a weekend that works for the whole family can be a challenge. Fortunately, building out an itinerary is easy, as there are tons of all-ages group activities in Denver.
Consider a stroll around the Denver Botanic Gardens, which features kid-friendly programming and several plant collections. Be thrilled by rides at the city’s urban amusement park, Elitch Gardens; and visit Denver Central Market, full of food vendors that cater to every family member’s preferences.
Of course, your loved ones can’t return from Colorado without experiencing the mountains. Take a day trip to Rocky Mountain National Park or book a whitewater rafting trip down nearby Clear Creek Canyon. Several outfitters offer tours for all ages and ability levels, so neither the little ones nor grandparents are left out of the fun.
Birthday Parties
Whether you’re celebrating your four-year-old or your own 40th birthday in Denver, every trip around the sun is worth a special occasion. For families, we recommend racing go-karts at Podium Karting and Events, or playing a round of archery dodgeball at Archery Games. Other fun things to do in Denver with kids include a trip to the Denver Zoo or the highly interactive Children’s Museum.
As for adult birthday party ideas in Denver, you can’t go wrong with a visit to Topgolf, bowling at Lucky Strike’s downtown location, or our LoDo Craft Beer Tour which features some of the city’s best breweries.
Retirement Parties
The close of your career should be commemorated in a big way. After all, studies claim that the average person puts 90,000 hours into their work — and finally, you can now pursue your passions full-time.
Lean into those interests when planning your retirement party in Denver. If it’s cooking and food, reserve chef’s counter seating at one of the city’s Michelin-starred restaurants. If music is your passion, gather a group to see the Colorado Symphony play at the Denver Performing Arts Complex.
Also, consider what hasn’t yet been checked off your bucket list! Plan a weekend getaway to the Grand Valley, Colorado’s premier wine country; or climb aboard the Pikes Peak Cog Railway in Colorado Springs to witness panoramic views at 14,000 feet.
Wedding Guests
If you’re flying in for a wedding, we highly recommend arriving early to experience some of the best group activities in Denver. Or at a minimum, maximize your downtime — there’s no reason to feel stuck at your hotel when so many city attractions are easily accessible.
The Ramble Hotel is one of the city’s most popular wedding venues and our RiNo Beer and Graffiti Tour begins just a few blocks away. The Maven is another favored wedding site, and the surrounding Dairy Block micro-district should not be missed. Pop into Denver Milk Market with a group to sample goods from sixteen dining concepts, and catch a baseball game at nearby Coors Field. If the wedding is hosted at The Art Hotel, five of the city’s best museums are all within walking distance.
Graduation Attendees
After the honoree graduate collects their diploma, go out to celebrate their incredible achievement! Near the University of Denver, you’ll find Cherry Creek State Park, perfect for a family picnic and activities on the reservoir. Aqua Golf is also nearby, which offers a waterfront driving range, two mini golf courses, and a private event space.
The Metropolitan State University of Denver is located downtown, just minutes from shows at Comedy Works and the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Several great restaurants suitable for special occasions, like The Capital Grille and STK Steakhouse, are also nearby.
Colorado School of Mines is close to tons of outdoor activities, like hiking local trails and tubing down Clear Creek. Fly fishing outfitters, rock climbing guides, and mountain bike rentals are accessible from Golden, too. Be sure to drive up Lookout Mountain, which guarantees great backdrops for graduation photos.
Group Activities in Denver for Various Interests
Beer Lovers
Dubbed “the Napa Valley of beer,” Denver is a prime destination for craft beer enthusiasts. The city boasts more than seventy breweries, plus dozens more in nearby suburbs.
As a local beer tour company, we’ve experienced countless breweries in Denver. A couple of our favorites include Great Divide Brewing Company, a craft beer pioneer with several awards; and Wynkoop Brewing Company, the first brewpub in the state. We visit these and two additional stops on our LoDo Craft Beer Tour, which involves 10+ tastings and insights into how the beverage became ingrained in the city’s culture.
Foodies
There was a time when many argued that Denver had a lacking food scene — and while that may have been true at one point, it’s far from the case today.
Last year, Michelin awarded stars to Beckon, BRUTØ, and The Wolf’s Tailor. It also spotlighted several Bib Gourmand eateries, which serve stellar meals at a lower price point than the aforementioned fine dining restaurants. These include Mediterranean eatery Ash’Kara, Chinese mainstay Hop Alley, and Italian favorite Tavernetta. Local publications like Westword and 5280 also highlight restaurants worth having on your radar.
However, while these spots are popular for good reason, you may have to fight for reservations, especially if hosting several people. To experience multiple restaurants with ease, consider booking a Downtown Food Tour, one of the best group activities in Denver.
Art Fanatics
Groups will find several great art museums in the Mile High. These include the Denver Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Clyfford Still Museum which is entirely dedicated to the abstract expressionist.
There’s also Meow Wolf, a relatively new attraction that’s somewhat of an art museum — but also a multi-sensory, interactive fun house with an interdimensional narrative. It’s otherworldly, sort of psychedelic, and undoubtedly intriguing. After exploring, take your group over to one of several breweries near Meow Wolf to make sense of what you just witnessed.
Music Enthusiasts
From the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre to lesser-known venues, it’s easy to find live music in Denver. Check out the line-up at Bluebird Theater, The Mission Ballroom, Fiddler’s Green, and other sites that host big-name performers.
For a more local feel, take your group to Number Thirty Eight, Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox, or the new Two Moons Music Hall. These and other sites cater to all genre preferences and pull in fun-loving crowds, perfect for a night out with friends.
Festival Goers
Want to experience the city’s music, art, and dining scene all in one place? Attend a festival! These are some of the best group activities in Denver, as they cater to a range of interests and often, entry is free.
Summer favorites include the Denver Arts Festival, the Five Points Jazz Festival, and the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival. Come autumn, the city celebrates the harvest season with Taste of Colorado, the Denver Food and Wine Festival, and the Great American Beer Festival — which to no surprise, is our personal favorite.
Outdoor Recreators
Colorado is famous for its great outdoors, and many activities are just a short distance from downtown Denver. Take a quick trip to Golden’s Clear Creek Canyon, where you’ll find everything from fly fishing to whitewater rafting and rock climbing.
Or head south towards Littleton, home to some of the area’s best parks. We especially recommend Chatfield State Park, where you’ll find boat rentals, a massive off-leash dog park, and group campsites for up to 36 people. Other Jefferson County trails are great for mountain biking, as well as hiking — though note that groups larger than fourteen individuals will require a permit.
Thrill Seekers
Looking for group activities in Denver that will get the adrenaline pumping? Rollercoasters at Elitch Gardens and go-kart racing at Podium Karting and Events are sure to entertain thrill seekers.
Outside of the city, daredevils will meet their match at Arapahoe Basin’s via ferrata — which is set at a higher elevation than any other in North America. Climb the iron rungs to dizzying heights and expect shaky legs when you finally return to solid ground. Mile-Hi Skydiving Center is another destination to consider if type two fun is your group’s preference.
Sports Fans
Denver has five major professional sports teams and near each of their stadiums, you’ll find several group activities. Before cheering on the Colorado Rockies, pre-game on our LoDo Craft Beer Tour or grab a bite at McGregor Square, located just across from Coors Field.
The Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche play at Ball Arena, which is a stone’s throw from great bars at Larimer Square. Empower Field at Mile High, the proud home of the Denver Broncos, is right next to Meow Wolf, allowing groups to see two major city attractions in one go.
There’s also the Colorado Rapids, which play at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City. Nearby, groups can order from multiple vendors within Stanley Marketplace, or experience the wildlife drive at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal before settling into their stadium seats.
